We will first visit the modern statue of the famous ancient king of Sparta, Leonidas, influenced by the original ancient statue found on the Acropolis of Sparta, which we will visit later, with the ruins of the famous ancient theater and other monuments.
We will continue our visit to the Archaeological Museum of Sparta, which is the oldest regional museum in Greece and exhibits a representative collection of antiquities found in the area, some of which are unique and are not to be found in other areas because of the special character of the ancient Spartans. After that we will visit the medieval castle-town of Mystras, a monument protected by UNESCO, which rises on the foothills of the legendary mountain Taygetos that dominates the Spartan valley.
Our tour ends with the Museum of the Olive and the Greek Olive oil, a modern thematic museum located in Sparta, one of the main olive oil producing areas of Greece. It is the only museum in Greece that presents the uses of olive and its products through time.
